We were lucky on two counts on our picnic on Sunday 7th June. Firstly wasn't the weather kind to us? It was a glorious day of almost continuous sun which we all made use of.
Secondly we were blessed with a great crowd of parents and children who came just to enjoy themselves, and enjoy themselves they did. What with bouncy castles and face painting, Village Stocks, buzzer wires, cow milking, treasure hunt, Punch and Judy, free ice cream courtesy of the Co-operative Store and many other games to play, there was no time for the children to sit around. However sitting around was just what the parents wanted to do - sit and chat - so both sides were perfectly happy with the arrangement.
Thank you all for coming and making such a great day of it. Tell all your friends so perhaps we can get an even bigger crowd next year.

And a big thank you for those organisations and people who gave up their free time to entertain us:

Jacqui Wragg of SturQuest for doing such a brilliant job acting as coordinator for the project
Steve Loveridge of Cool Play for kindly donating the use of the Bouncy Castle.
Mac McCullam for kindly giving Punch and Judy shows for free.
The manager and staff of Co-operative food for providing free icecream and cornets
Eva for her Latvian singing and dancing display
Dike & Sons for loaning the 'milk the cow'.
The Shroton Ukelele Club.
Brenda Birt and her colleagues from Sturminster Newton Mothers' Union who organised the Treasure Hunt.
Jaimie Keast and staff from Home-Start North Dorset who worked so hard with face painting.
Women's Institute for providing tea and cakes for high tea
And not forgetting the many unsung heroes, both young and old, who helped make this such a memorable occasion.

Finally if you have any comments, advice or even complaints about the event we would be very pleased to receive them at desoc68@btinternet.com.
